NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Loews Vanderbilt is one of eight hotels in the Nashville area to be certified as eco-friendly enough to be part of a new Tennessee Green Hospitality program.

The hotel’s courtesy vehicle for guests is a hybrid, recycling bins are part of every banquets function and iPads may replace guest services directories in guest rooms.

Loews Vanderbilt Hotel said it plans to become part of a network of electric charging stations.

Other hotels certified include the Hutton Hotel, where they’ve replaced bars of soap in guest rooms with bulk soap dispensers. They’ve also installed dual-flush commodes and waterless urinals to conserve water.

The Courtyard Marriott in downtown made the list for having recycle bins in every guest room.

Doubletree Hotel Murfreesboro, Franklin Marriott Cool Springs, Holiday Inn Vanderbilt, Nashville Airport Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott Nashville Airport are also part of the program.

We’re told the changes are not only helping to save the planet, but money as well.
